For a limited number of weekends during Fall 2022 (exact dates have yet to be determined), we will be bringing back our popular Learn to Ride classes in a slightly different format. Classes will now be conducted mostly in small groups of two and will take place for 3 consecutive days over the course of a weekend.

Working in groups of two allows for the ideal instructor-to-participant ratio while additionally providing a network of peer support and encouragement. We have also found that breaking classes into consecutive, multi-day sessions provides the best opportunity for learning. Participants are able to build knowledge off the previous days’ lessons while also getting enough rest to show up as their best selves — it’s hard work to learn a new skill!

During each class, instructors will lead small groups of two through a combination of exercises to practice how to start, stop, balance, and steer their bicycles in a safe and positive learning environment. Over the course of the weekend, our highly trained instructors will be able to tailor learning experiences to the specific needs of each child. This may look like spending extra time practicing balance on day 2, or participating in a longer neighborhood ride on day 3 depending on the needs and comfort level of each rider.

We will update our website here and make announcements on social media in the weeks leading up to the events with more information on dates, cost, how to sign up, and what to bring. In the meantime, check out our teaching and discipline policies below. If you have any questions, please reach out to bikecamp@communitycyclingcenter.org
