And the Winner Is…
This Sunday’s Open House brought together more than fifty people, new and familiar to the Community Cycling Center. Volunteers, participants, new and old staff, new and old board members, and neighbors admired the cruiser donated by New Belgium Brewery while enjoying good food and even better company.
Andrew contemplates being the lucky winner of the New Belgium cruiser at Sunday’s Open House.
Community Cycling Center Board Chair Margaret Weddell spoke about the exciting changes at the Community Cycling Center starting with the hire of Executive Director Susan Remmers in April 2006 and culminating in our new mission to broaden access to bicycling and its benefits through our hands-on programs, volunteer projects, and neighborhood bike shop.
Remmers then spoke about the “tremendous well of passion, talent, and commitment” among staff. As a hub of bicycle activity we aim to provide many ways for the community to connect and to get stronger and healthier as a result. We will continue to do this work based on our values of creativity, sustainability, diversity, accountability, and community.
Finally, we closed the raffle and announced Andrew Harmon the winner. Andrew told Director of Development & Communications Alison Hill Graves that when he purchased the ticket he had a feeling he would win! He moved to Portland three weeks ago from Anchorage, Alaska. He was thrilled. Welcome to Portland, Andrew!
Thank you again to everyone who came out to celebrate with us on Sunday.
