Join us at the Hottest Day of the Year Ride on August 3rd
Join hundreds of your friends and neighbors at the Hottest Day of the Year Ride on Sunday, August 3. This year’s ride features two themed rest stops — including a watermelon eating contest at the Community Cycling Center. There are 15-mile and 40-mile routes this year, wending their way through Portland to the misted finish line at the NW Lucky Lab Brew Pub. Both routes end with a water fight (squirt guns will be provided) and an all-you-can-eat sundae bar. You can’t not have fun!
For three years, the Hottest Day of the Year Ride has allowed Portlanders to meet their friends and neighbors on the road during a fun, family-friendly day. The routes are well-planned, well-supported, and beautiful. The 15-mile route is a great first step toward biking more if you’re new to cycling and it’s also an easy enough route to bring the whole family.
The Community Cycling Center is dedicated to getting more people on bicycles by providing many ways for people to develop the skills and confidence to ride through our educational programs. The Hottest Day of the Year Ride is one of the major events of the year, but we offer many other ways to get individuals and families riding with confidence year-round. We offer free family fun rides throughout the summer months and a family cycling class. We also offer maintenance and urban cycling evening classes at our shop throughout the year. Take a minute to get to know us while you’re enjoying watermelon at the Community Cycling Center rest stop!
