Join us at the Worst Day of the Year Ride
Join us on Sunday, February 8th, for the Worst Day of the Year Ride! If you registered for last year’s ride (during the Snowpocalypse!), you are good to go for 2015. A portion of the proceeds from this ride will go towards supporting our work of broadening access to bicycling and its benefits.
The Worst Day of the Year Ride is a fun bike odyssey around Portland that has quickly become a quirky tradition. The Community Cycling Center is honored to be the nonprofit beneficiary of this ride.
You’ll be kept warm and comfy at every turn with tons of belly-nourishing treats. Join hundreds of other hardy souls as we laugh at the elements and gather for a delicious finish line party at the Lucky Labrador. Be sure to register early and save your spot!
15-mile odyssey
This relatively flat course takes you past three yummy rest stops – each one featuring a hot beverage and treats (bagels, cookies, fruit). The route is a perfect tour of Portland as it dips into all five so-called “quadrants” of Portland and offers a sample of the city’s splendor.
46-mile challenge
This scenic course starts at Lucky Lab but at the downtown REI rest stop you’ll head for the hills. The route traverses the scenic West Hills along some steep roads. The course includes a crossing of the majestic St. Johns Bridge, travels through North Portland and joins up with the Urban Route for the last third of the ride.
The “Challenge” comes in the hills and the distance. Load up on snacks and water at the REI rest stop – you’ll have 20 miles until you get to the next rest stop. Once you’re back in Portland, rest stops are frequent as you’ll be following the 15-Mile Urban Course.
See you there!
