About the Holiday Bike Drive
Since the Holiday Bike Drive’s inception in 1995, the Community Cycling Center’s work of broadening access to bicycling has empowered over 7,400 children in Portland with bicycles. Over the course of this year, 500 volunteers have dedicated more than 5,000 hours to clean and refurbish bicycles donated by generous community members.
On the day of the event, over 250 volunteers will guide each child through a series of bike safety lessons while helping children choose the bicycles of their dreams. Volunteer interpreters help create an inclusive and welcoming event by translating the experience into Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, and other languages spoken by participants and their families.
The Community Cycling Center invites the media to attend this festive, community-building event.
