ODOT Sponsorship Spotlight

With the conclusion of our 30th Anniversary Bike Carnival and Fundraiser we’d like to highlight the continued support from Oregon Department of Transportation(ODOT). The Bike Carnival was dreamed-up as a day of celebration and community gathering. We agreed that one of the most important parts of celebrating the Community’s Cycling Center on this day would be to do it with the community. Thanks to ODOT and other contributing event sponsors, we were able to ensure the event remained free to attend, welcoming anyone and everyone to come celebrate with us!

The success of the Bike Carnival and Fundraiser also means that we’re able to strengthen the support for our current community programs. The Repair Hub, Community Camp, STEM Bike Class, Remote Repairs, and Holiday Bike Drive will all directly benefit from the $80,784 raised in honor of our 30-year milestone. While much of our work revolves around providing direct service, access to resources or education, ODOT’s Get There Oregon program aims to encourage alternative modes of transportation by being a source for information and supporting organizations like us!

Aside from just sharing information about making the switch from driving to biking and transit, Get There Oregon is hosting a fun week-long Car Free Challenge this September. For the week of September 16th through 22nd participants can log all of their non-car trips for a chance to win prizes to local businesses. You can learn more about the Challenge and Get There Oregon’s resources by visiting getthereoregon.org.

What’s next for the CCC? Right now, we’re excited to continue a great season of Community Camps, The Repair Hub, and Remote Repairs at Blanchet house. We’re also gearing up for another big Holiday Bike Drive this December so if you’re looking to volunteer, now is the perfect time to get involved! A lot has changed over the last 30 years but at the same time not much has changed. We continue to evolve as an organization but we remain dedicated to the simple idea that bikes can have tremendous positive impacts on our community. If you share this belief, consider making a contribution in support of ensuring another 30 years of Community Cycling Center broadening access to bicycles and their benefits.
