Oregon Walks all over Rumble Strips
By Melinda Musser, Communications & Marketing Manager
A fifth and highly competitive round of Transportation Trivia Night convened at Radio Room this past Wednesday evening. Team Rumble Strips arrived, trophy in hand, determined to defend their title. It was neck and neck, but team Anything But Pedestrian—a group of folks from Oregon Walks—took home the trophy with 29 points after the third and final round.
City of Portland Signals Division Manager Peter Koonce’s emcee skills are now legendary. He led us through three rounds of challenging trivia, testing our knowledge of early 90s transportation-themed hip-hop (I Missed The Bus!) to number of city-owned bridges in Portland, a highly debatable topic where several contestants fought over what is actually considered a “bridge” in Portland. We thank Peter for keeping the crowd of transportation wonks pumped and primed to show off their knowledge.
We have uploaded last night’s trivia questions for those that want to relive the glory.
Exciting news – we also set a new record for dollars raised at a Transportation Trivia event. Together we raised $4,000, beating the previous total of $3,867 – and this doesn’t include the proceeds from food and drink sales at Radio Room, which are still being tallied as this article is being typed. To those who were able to make a financial contribution, we here at the Community Cycling Center thank you for your incredible generosity! Together, we are able to provide access to bicycles to those who need them the most.
A huge thank you to our event sponsors, Lancaster Engineering, CH2M Hill, HDR, and Hopworks. Thanks again to our friends and Alberta Street neighbors at Radio Room for being such excellent hosts. Your staff handled our rowdy trivia bunch with ease and we appreciate your support.
Stay tuned for another round of Transportation Trivia in March of 2015, which will be held in a mystery, transportation-related location. (Ooh!)
