On a grey and chilly March morning, the staff of the Community Cycling Center received an email that would leave us smiling from ear to ear. Elijah Shulman, a student at Northwest Academy, wrote to us with the most unexpected, but amazing, news of his decision to ride his bike 1,650 miles over 22 days through twelve of the sixteen scenic bikeways in Oregon for his capstone project. As part of his bike tour, Elijah would also raise money for the Cycling Center!
Elijah kept an extensive blog of his adventures up the icy roads in Ripplebrook, down an 8 mile descent into Clarno, through the muddy trails into Burns, and more, all to experience the majestic wonderland that is Oregon. By the end of his trip, Elijah raised over $1,800 to support the Community Cycling Center and our programs. Here’s a huge shout out for you, Elijah! Thank you!
Crowd funding is an amazing and simple way to support the Community Cycling Center. Even our staff is in on the action! Right now, our very own Yashar Vasef is riding across Iowa at RAGBRAI, and using the opportunity to support our mission through a crowdfund page of his own.
Next time you’re off on your next big adventure, be it a birthday or bike tour, and would like to support the Cycling Center, please get in touch with Jim Milne at jim.milne@communitycyclingcenter.org and he can set you up with a crowdfund page, easy peasy!
Here’s to making every adventure memorable and worthwhile for you and your community. Cheers!
