Stand up for sustainable transportation in Portland
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) recently released a budget proposal that dramatically cuts funding for bicycling projects and programs. One striking example is Safer Routes to Schools (SR2S), an innovative health and safety program.
SR2S teaches elementary school children how to bike safely and encourages children and their families to decrease car traffic by walking and biking to school more. PBOT’s proposed budget will cut this groundbreaking and effective program by 40%.
We urge you to read more about this proposed budget cut and contact Mayor Adams and City Council members to urge them to reexamine their funding priorities.
The Community Cycling Center and the broader community benefits when responsible and adequate levels of funding are dedicated to sustainable transportation education, encouragement, and infrastructure projects.
Please stand up for sustainable transportation education and encouragement in Portland.
