Sunset Bike Fair Helps 300 Beavertonians Ride Safer
On Saturday, June 13th, we helped put on the 4th Annual Sunset Community Bike Safety Fair. This huge event, organized by dedicated volunteer Bryan Miller, provides kids from Beaverton schools with free bicycle inspections and adjustments, safety education lessons, and helmets.
The fair doubles as a bike collection, bringing in used bicycles for our community programs like Create a Commuter and Bike Club. This year, a team of ten veteran Community Cycling Center volunteers joined nearly 100 volunteers from Sunset Presbyterian Church to put on the most successful fair yet.
We offered safety education and free helmets to over 300 event participants, tuned up over 100 bicycles, received 78 donated bicycles, and raised $300 in donations to help cover costs of tubes, patches, and other replacement parts.
Congratulations to Bryan and the rest of the Sunset community for organizing such a successful event and collection. We are grateful to be included in this truly community-building event.
Thank you Mathew Scamahorn for sharing photos, including the one above.
