Volunteer at Sunday Parkways
On Sunday September 25 Portland Sunday Parkways comes to Northeast Portland with the longest route of the year. There will be over 8 miles of streets closed to cars and open for pedestrians, cyclists and strollers. Volunteer with this awesome community event and get a Sunday Parkways t-shirt, a warm fuzzy feeling, and some snacks–the jobs are super easy, but very important.
Their biggest need is for Intersection and Mobile Superheroes to help manage participant flow and help neighbors get to and from their house. With more than 25,000 participants, Sunday Parkways can cause congestion for folks who live on the route and as a Superhero, you’ll intercept cars when they approach the course and instruct them on how to get around the event or guide them to their house.
Intersection Superheroes manage one to two intersections, while Mobile Superheroes cover multiple intersections and ride their bikes. They have two shifts (11:00 – 2:30pm and 1:45pm – 5:00pm), so you can come check out the event before or after your shift. Help celebrate Portland’s largest public space–the streets!
