A Big Tent for Our Communities’ Needs
Encouraging access to opportunities for all our communities in a way that ensures a healthy, equitable future for all is a cornerstone of our work here at the Community Cycling Center. We are daily grateful to our volunteers and community members whose efforts make our programs possible. We are also grateful to our coalition partners with whom we work to build pathways to achieve access. Our collective work is not just about beating the odds, but of changing them.
Yesterday, we were proud to join our partners in support of a robust, equitable vision for regional funding. Here is an excerpt from the coalition letter sharing that vision:
We know our region is stronger when we all have options for safe, quality, affordable housing with access to jobs, school, services and amenities to help preserve our region’s economic competitiveness and quality of life…. We encourage our elected and appointed officials to fund robust, meaningful, collaborative planning processes with regional transportation, housing, economic development, and community advocates to prepare for needed high capacity transit improvements and active transportation access across the region.
We look forward to building on this effort and furthering–and funding–values of equity and access to true transportation choice.
