Bike Clubs Awarded Grant
The Fred Meyer Family Foundation recently awarded a $7,500 grant to the Community Cycling Center to be used in our Youth Earn-a-Bike program. Our Bike Clubs are hands-on, experiential after-school workshops where low-income 9 to 12 year olds learn safe riding skills, basic bike maintenance, and the importance of wearing a properly fitted helmet. By working hard and participating throughout the course of the 12-session program, youth earn their own bicycle, lock, and helmet to take home!Â
The grant money will be used to purchase equipment and to produce a bicycle maintenance and instruction guide illustrated with key bike safety information such as proper helmet fitting, flat tire repair, and preventative maintenance to keep riders and their bicycles safe after the program is completed. We are so thankful and happy for the support of the Fred Meyer Family Foundation!
Last month,Tami Sheets dropped by to present the check.Â
