Cyclone Bicycle Supply Donates Over 350 Kryptonite Locks
Cyclone Bicycle Supply recently negotiated a donation of 363 Kryptonite locks to the Community Cycling Center. This generous donation of 169 U-locks and 194 cable locks will be distributed to low-income participants in our Create a Commuter, Bike Club and Bike Camp scholarship programs. Cyclone Bicycle Supply is the nation’s largest distributor of Kryptonite locks and they have been a tremendous supporter of the Community Cycling Center for years.
“We fully believe in and support the mission of introducing cycling to a wider group of individuals than the traditional model,†said Erik Deeter, owner of Cyclone Bicycle Supply. “We strongly believe in the health, economic and transportation benefits that cycling provides. It is an honor for us to support and take part in this mission through financial support, volunteer work, and education. We are very proud of our community and are always excited to support organizations that share our commitment to cycling and the many benefits it provides.
“Good bike locks and bike locking skills are essential components of our earn-a-bike programs to safe guard against theft. In our classes and workshops, we teach youth and adults how to use their Kryptonite locks and give them a chance to practice their locking and unlocking skills in real settings, ensuring that they lock the frame and if possible, one or both wheels as well. Many of our participants have never had their own bike, or a decent lock, so we want to ensure that they know how to lock their new bikes properly.
Thank you, Cyclone Bicycle Supply, for your continued support and commitment to our work. Together we are helping get more people on bikes with the tools that they need.
