Donate your vehicle and support Community Cycling Center
By Melinda Musser, Communciations & Marketing Manager
We just launched a brand new vehicle donation program with our partner Charity Connections! If you have a car, truck, RV, boat, or other type of vehicle, you can donate it to us via their online form and receive a tax-deductible donation. They’ll even pick up the vehicle for you!
By donating your vehicle you will save yourself the hassle and expense of selling your vehicle on your own. At the same time, you will be supporting the mission of the Community Cycling Center.
Charity Connections is a program run by Volunteers of America Oregon, a non-profit organization. They work closely with a local auction house and spend the time to personally go over each vehicle, making minor repairs and making sure it is cleaned up before it hits the auction floor. When you donate your car, boat, motor home, or motorcycle, the Community Cycling Center will benefit from your donation. 100 percent of the net proceeds go back to helping the community.
Q: How will my vehicle be used?
A: Charity Connections will detail and perform minor repairs to maximize the sale price of the vehicle. Any proceeds go directly back to the Community Cycling Center. Your vehicle donation helps our local community and people in need.
Q: Does my vehicle have to be running to donate it?
A: They accept running and non-running vehicles (some restrictions may apply to oversized vehicles and tow range).
Q: What types of vehicles do they accept?
A: All kinds! Cars, motorcycles, trucks, boats, motor homes, travel trailers, recreational vehicles, aircrafts, and more.
Q: Will they pick up my vehicle?
A: Yes, and there is no charge to the donor!
Q: What if I have an out-of-state title?
A: No problem – they can process a donation with an out-of-state title.
Q: When will I receive my donation receipt?
A: You will be mailed a donation receipt after the vehicle sells. If the proceeds from the sale exceed $500 dollars, you will be mailed an official IRS tax form 1098c, certifying actual sale value. This letter shows the IRS that you are authorized for a charitable tax deduction. You will need to provide your social security number on the 1098c tax form.
Q: How are they different from all of the other vehicle donation programs in the area?
A: Charity Connections carries a track record of 25 years in the local non-profit industry and over 150 non-profit partners that can verify and testify on their behalf. Their business structure is designed, dedicated, and based around non-profit charity vehicle donations, including sales and service. They also personally follow the vehicle through the whole process, from an initial assessment to their presence at the auctions. They handle all of the in-house paperwork and processing after receiving a referral form or intake form. They are dedicated to making the donation process convenient and easy for the donor and beneficiary.
