Shifting – Intro & Beyond Series

This class is an introduction as well as a deep dive into shifting. We’ll cover basic adjustments, derailleur hanger alignment, cable replacement, as well as how to troubleshoot shifting performance.
This is a one time, 2-hour class. Students are encouraged to bring their own bikes for practicing. While this class’ focus will be on cable-actuated shift systems, many of the principles learned here can be applied to electronic shifting as well.
Maximum class size is 4 students.
Intro & Beyond is a four-part class series designed to build confidence and skill in bicycle repair. Each standalone class dives deep into one core mechanical system: Shifting, Brakes, Wheels, and the Headset & Bottom Bracket.
You can take the full series for a well-rounded understanding of bike mechanics, or choose individual classes based on your interests and needs. It’s up to you!
Compared to our Basic Bicycle Mechanics class, each Intro & Beyond session offers more focused, in-depth instruction on its specific system. These classes are ideal for riders who want to go further with their maintenance skills or expand on what they’ve already learned in the Basic Bicycle Mechanics course.
