Cycle Oregon has announced that they have cancelled the 2017 Classic due to wildfires. We can only imagine how difficult the decision was for the Cycle Oregon team and admire that they have prioritized safety.
The development of this summer’s fires have had significant impacts on communities throughout Oregon, most particularly in central and southern Oregon. We are grateful to the many emergency response teams who are fighting to contain these fires. We at the Community Cycling Center are holding the people and communities who are impacted in our thoughts.
As they noted in their statement about the decision, it is a huge disappointment for all of us. The ride is a beloved institution, highlighting Oregon’s beauty, its communities’ hospitality, and the incomparable experience of riding in Oregon on a bicycle. The Community Cycling Center has been a partner for years; we always look forward to offering a charge station and bike detailing services. We will miss seeing the many friendly faces that we expect every year.
If you had connecting with us regarding charging and/or detailing services, please know we will contact you early next week about next steps. Thank you very much for your patience.
